THE BLOCKBUSTER HIT—A New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Publishers Weekly Bestseller
For readers of Orphan Train and The Nightingale comes a “thought-provoking [and] complex tale about two families, two generations apart . . . based on a notorious true-life scandal.”*
I'm liking this link and the books that Reese Witherspoon selects.
I think we have a few more good links on the side bar.

The Rent Collector
One of the best discussions ever! Kelly took us to this book. We didn't know we could like it so much. Not 100% popular, because it was a dark and dank existence in the dump. But what an insight to literacy and what it can mean.
Very different book which gave us a very different look at life.
Next up:
Kathy selected a thriller!

By Invitation Only
Lisa selected a really fun read for summer. We all enjoyed the southern charm at he peach farm and the cold of Chicago where the unraveling begins. All ends well and it was great fun! And thanks to Kathy who was our substitute host - lovely food and beverages (as usual)
Coming up next: The Rent Collector by Camron Wright
Survival for Ki Lim and Sang Ly is a daily battle at Stung Meanchey, the largest municipal waste dump in all of Cambodia. They make their living scavenging recyclables from the trash. Life would be hard enough without the worry for their chronically ill child, Nisay, and the added expense of medicines that are not working. Just when things seem worst, Sang Ly learns a secret about the ill-tempered rent collector who comes demanding money--a secret that sets in....

Reese Witherspoon's Book Club Picks (click the link)
I noticed the third book down set in Shaker Heights, Ohio. We lived just next to that area while Dave went to NCR tech schools. In fact all the books sound good and several are being made into movies!

#1 Ladies Detective Agency
The Making of #1 Ladies Detective Agency HBO Series:
I finally got this up on the blog. Warning: it takes a bit of time to upload.
Be patient.
You might have faster results going to youtube and watching.
If that's not your cup of tea, follow this link.
(I added "the making of" to my google search. I think that overall one is really informative)
But any one of the episodes will introduce you to the characters, the landscape,
the culture and the clothing.
No hiding it - I'm enchanted.
Please look at one episode before our next book club.
And thank you!

Guest blogger...Noreen says:
"Best Book Club ever - in my humble opinion....Being able to ask the author, Marcia Rudin, questions about character development and her research, made our discussion so rich. And hearing from the variety of backgrounds of our group also added so much. But the star was our "guest speaker" and good friend, Jacqui Fogelberg. She very eloquently and generously shared her journey and perspectives related to being a nun during much of the same time period as the book.
Then of course there was the good food and wine. A totally perfect afternoon"

Mona Sullivan seeks peace and certitude when she becomes a nun, but must adjust to tumultuous changes in her Church. As she becomes an activist public figure, she must decide whether to stay in the Church or leave to become an Episcopal priest.
Sandra Miller embarks on a long and difficult journey to become a rabbi at a time when women weren’t accepted. Now she must choose between her childhood sweetheart and her successful."
